ARE YOU READY FOR POOL OPENING?

A LOCAL POOL OPENING SERVICE CAN HELP YOU GET THE MOST OUT OF THE SWIMMING SEASON

With the wild winter weather we’ve had, it might seem foolish to even begin thinking about opening your swimming pool again for the spring and summer season. But take it from us—it sneaks up on you and before you know it, you’re making a desperate last-minute call to a professional pool opening service because you don’t want to miss any of the precious few perfect pool days. Get a head start now by familiarizing yourself with what needs to be done, so that when the warm weather comes, you’re ready to soak up the sun from your own pool.

UNCOVER THE POOL

If you’re new to pool ownership, it may be tempting to believe that this is all there is to a successful pool opening—after all, you’ve technically opened it, haven’t you? But this is just the first step—albeit an important one. Begin by cleaning debris and dirt from the cover, and pumping off any water that has pooled on top of it. Remove the cover, allow it to dry, and store it carefully so it’s ready for its next use.

RESTORE THE WATER

If you closed your pool properly, then you drained the water level to several inches below the skimmer. And unless you need to access the floor for maintenance reasons, you shouldn’t have had to drain it entirely. Using a hose, restore the water level to its natural position, halfway up the skimmer.

DE-WINTERIZE AND RECONNECT YOUR EQUIPMENT

You can’t get away with not winterizing your pool in our climate. Whether you did so yourself or had a pool opening service do it for you, reconnect filters, pumps, heaters, and more, and replace any winter plugs with drain plugs. If you used antifreeze, flush it out of the pipes.

CLEAN YOUR POOL AND ADJUST THE CHEMISTRY

You should already know how to manage your chemistry by now, so now’s the time to go ahead and make sure that the pH, alkalinity, and chlorine are at ideal levels. The next part of the pool opening process is cleaning any remaining dirt and debris. Once you’ve done that, you can leave the filters to run overnight, and then shock it the next day.

HAVING YOUR POOL OPENED PROFESSIONALLY

If you want to take the stress and work out of the pool opening process, you can always call a professional service to take care of it for you. They have plenty of experience with opening and closing swimming pools of different kinds, and will be able to go through the process step-by-step quickly and efficiently. If you want to get your feet wet with ease this spring, contact a pool opening service to book your service appointment.
