Pool Closing Services: Ottawa's Pools Closings Experts

At HB Pools, we help care for your pool before winter comes so it stays safe during the cold. We offer pool closing services for families in Ottawa, making sure your pool is ready for winter. Our team uses smart ways, like the Duck Plug system, to save water and chemicals, keeping your pool in good shape until it's warm again. Let us help you winterize your pool so it's ready to splash next season!

When to Schedule Your Pool Closing

Timing your pool closing is critical to protecting your investment. Close too early, and you risk algae growth; close too late, and frost damage may occur.

The ideal time for pool closing in Ottawa is between September 10th and October 20th. However, many of our clients prefer to schedule their pool closing after the long weekend in September, depending on the weather.

Appointments fill up fast during the fall season, so be sure to schedule your pool closing well in advance. Remember, late closings (after the first week of November) will incur an additional $100 fee, so book early to avoid extra costs!

Your pool winterizing process will vary depending on the equipment components and complexity of your In-ground Pool plumbing setup. Regardless, it’s really all about prevention.

You’ll need to remove water to prevent damage that could occur when it freezes. HB Pools Winterize Process

Ottawa's Trusted Pool Closing Experts

As Ottawa's top choice for pool closing services, HB Pools protects your pool from harsh winter weather. With our years of experience, we've perfected an eco-friendly pool closing process that reduces chemical usage, preserves your pool's structure, and saves you time, money, and stress when you reopen it in the spring. Our team of experts is committed to providing reliable service, ensuring your pool stays in great shape throughout the winter.

How We Close Your Pool

At HB Pools, we use a refined, thorough approach to pool closing that ensures your pool is winter-ready and protected. Here is a step-by-step look at our process:

  1. Site Arrival & Inspection

We begin with a friendly call before arrival. Our technicians knock on your door, introduce themselves, and inspect the pool area to ensure everything is safe and ready for closing. Any necessary adjustments will be made before we start the pool winterization.

  1. Water Level Adjustment

We adjust your pool's water level based on its type. If your pool uses our advanced Duck Plug system, we maintain the water at mid-skimmer height to preserve your pool chemistry and reduce water loss. If you prefer a traditional method, we lower the water below the jets to prevent freezing and pipe damage.

  1. Blowing Out Water Lines

Using commercial-grade blowers, we completely remove water from your pool lines. This step is crucial to avoid frozen pipes, which can cause costly damage during the winter. Our Duck Plug system allows us to blow out the lines without draining excessive water, keeping your pool protected and saving you on water and chemical costs.

  1. Winterizing Equipment

We carefully winterize all your essential pool equipment, including the pump, filter, heater, and salt system. By draining and sealing these components properly, we prevent damage from freezing. Additionally, we remove ladders, skimmer baskets, and other accessories that the cold could damage.

  1. Pool Closing Kit Application

To ensure your water remains clearer for longer throughout the winter, we use a pool closing kit. This specialized kit helps maintain your pool's chemistry, preventing algae growth and water clarity issues when you reopen the pool in the spring. With the right chemicals in place, your spring pool opening will require less work and fewer chemicals.

  1. Antifreeze Protection

For added protection, we introduce antifreeze to your pool's plumbing lines, providing an extra layer of security to prevent freezing in even the coldest Ottawa winters. We use high-quality antifreeze designed for pool systems, so you can rest assured your pool is safe until spring.

  1. Safety Cover Installation

If you choose our safety cover installation option, we'll securely install a durable, anchored cover designed to handle the weight of snow and ice. This not only protects your pool from debris but also reduces the risk of accidents and keeps animals or unwanted visitors out of your pool during the off-season.
