Pool opening & True Guard® (Nature2®) - why is this important

✅ Why Use the True Guard® (Nature2®) Cartridge in a Swimming Pool?

True Guard® is a mineral sanitizer cartridge designed to reduce the need for chlorine in pools while maintaining clean, clear, and safe water. It’s commonly used as part of the Nature2® system, and here’s why it matters:

🧪 What Is It Made Of?

  • Silver (Ag): Naturally destroys bacteria and prevents growth.

  • Copper (Cu): Algaecide – inhibits algae growth.

  • Zinc (Zn): Enhances water clarity and stability.

These minerals are embedded in a ceramic or zeolite-type media inside a sealed cartridge. As water flows through the cartridge, ions are slowly released, providing ongoing sanitation.

⚙️ How It Works – Technical Breakdown

  1. Installed inside the pool’s circulation system – often in-line on the return side, post-filter.

  2. Water passes through the cartridge, where silver and copper ions are released.

  3. These ions kill bacteria and prevent algae without the harsh side effects of high chlorine levels.

  4. It works in tandem with a low chlorine residual (0.5–1.0 ppm), cutting down chlorine use by up to 50%.

🧰 Key Benefits for Technicians & Clients

Feature

Client Benefit

Technician Benefit

Mineral-based sanitation

Less chlorine = softer water, no harsh smell

Healthier water systems = happy clients

Long-lasting (4–6 months)

Low maintenance over the season

Fewer service calls for chemical balancing

Easy installation

One-time seasonal insert

No complex integration with pump/filter

Algae and bacteria control

Less chance of green water

More stable chemistry = fewer problems

Compatible with most systems

Can be added to chlorine or salt pools

Flexible option for upselling or retrofits

⚠️ Important Notes for Installers/Techs

  • Must be used with a working filtration system – the minerals need water flow.

  • NOT compatible with bromine – it interferes with the mineral action.

  • Do not use algaecides with copper – could result in staining or metal overload.

  • Keep pH between 7.2–7.6 and don’t let calcium hardness get too high (above 400 ppm) to avoid scaling.

  • Should be replaced every 6 months or at the start of each season.

🧠 Bottom Line

The True Guard® (Nature2®) mineral system is ideal for:

  • Clients who want lower chlorine exposure

  • Salt pool owners looking to reduce chlorine demand

  • Technicians aiming to stabilize chemistry and reduce algae/bacteria calls

It aligns with HB Pools' commitment to innovation and better client care — providing cleaner water with fewer chemicals, while making maintenance more efficient.
